What we build

How we keep a shower from leaking
A shower fails from water behind the tile, not from the tile you see. On every job we demo and inspect the wet area, make the walls and floor true, waterproof with a shower pan or bonded membrane (Schluter on most jobs), flood-test before any tile goes up, then set the tile. Often large-format, mosaic, stone, or subway tile with clean planes and tight joints. If the waterproofing is not right, the tile does not matter. That is why the membrane and the test come before the pretty part.
Shower tile and drainage
Shower tile and natural stone need a flat wall and a properly pitched floor for good drainage. If the wall is not flat, you get lippage, cracked grout, and hollow spots. When slope is not correct, it leaves standing water that can cause several problems including mold and mildew.
