Tile floor installation in Castle Rock & surrounding areas

Talamo Tile & Stone installs custom tile floors for homes in Castle Rock and surrounding areas: floors, tub surrounds, niches, benches, and other tile or stone in the room. The floor work starts under the tile: substrate, elevations, flatness, and uncoupling membrane. Then we set the tile.

Talamo Tile & Stone installs custom tile floors in Castle Rock, Colorado. The work starts with substrate repair and floor leveling to achieve flatness requirements before any tile is set. Movement joints are critical, so EJ171 is strictly adhered to, allowing for proper expansion and contraction of the tile assembly. The company is CTI-certified (#1420), Schluter-trained, and large-format certified. The tile is set by Vito Talamo (30+ years exp.) and his sons Nicholas (10+ years) and Matthew (3+ years).

What we build

We install custom tiled floors in porcelain, ceramic, glass, mosaic, and natural stone. Not just floors, we install tile anywhere that is suitable. That includes tub-to-shower conversions, walk-ins with niches and benches, backsplashes, detail work like linear drains, large-format tile, tub surrounds, and zero-entry / ADA curbless showers with the Rapid Recess system (ask when you call if that’s the goal).
We can add heated floors when an electrician or plumber is part of the plan.

How we keep a tile floor from failing

A tiled floor fails from improper substrate prep, deflection, lack of uncoupling membrane, incorrect mortar and setting methods. On every job we demo and inspect the floor, add floor leveling or mudwork to make the floor true, install uncoupling membrane (Schluter Ditra on most jobs; also Laticrete Strata_mat). Prep is the most important aspect of the job, that's why we spend so much time on it before any tile goes down, then set the tile.  Often large-format, mosaic, stone, or porcelain plank tile with clean planes and tight joints. If the substrate is not right, the tile does not matter. That is why the leveling and uncoupling get done properly before the pretty part.

Floor tile prep

Floor tile and natural stone need a flat surface and a properly calculated elevation. If the floor is not flat, you get lippage, cracked grout, and hollow spots. When movement joints are not installed, it risks the entire assembly, often leading to tenting and cracks.
